Dorea Black (1920–1977), daughter of Cygnus Black and Violetta Bulstrode, married Charlus Potter. They had one son, who is not named on the tree, but who was apparently in the same generation (or perhaps once removed) as Harry's father James and his classmates. The relationship between Charlus Potter and James Potter remains uncertain, but the coincidence of the "Potter" family name has prompted debate whether Dorea and Charlus could be James' parents.[2] J.K. Rowling has not commented upon this issue. In answer to a question about the deaths of Harry's grandparents she said, Petunia and Lily's parents, normal Muggle death. James's parents were elderly, were getting on a little when he was born, which explains the only child, very pampered, had-him-late-in-life-so-he's-an-extra-treasure, as often happens, I think. They were old in wizarding terms, and they died. They succumbed to a wizarding illness.[3] Charlus Potter's birth year is unknown, but James was born approximately 1958.
